Teary after marriage

Peter Dube will live to remember the 23rd of December 2000 when he tied the knot with his long time girl friend of four years Petty Sibanda. The wedding ceremony had been the best in the family history as everyone ate everything they had ever dreamed of, not to mention the way all family members enjoyed.
Infact Peter’s wedding became the talk of the village for close to a month as it was one of the best weddings.
Little did Peter know that he would even be the talk of the town sooner than he had expected. The jewel that he had always treasured turned to his worst nightmare that he has ever witnessed. The well reserved Petty that he had always treasured a lot has now turned to a wolf and a man basher.
Not only has Peter been turned into a maid as soon as he lost his job at Kango but has also been turned into a punching bag that even his grade two child no longer calls father but now prefers the name Peter as per the mother’s wish.
What Peter is facing is one of the challenges that most Zimbabwean men face but their cries have never been heard either because they prefer it that way they are afraid of going against what culture and the society expects them to do so as in our culture even at the wake of the funeral of a loved one.
It is generally women who scream the loudest on the top of their voices while man will be looking downwards and some shaking their heads in grief. This is why men suffer and die in silence while women take an advantage of the situation.
I used to be a strong man, Petty really respected me…..i just don’t know what is happening as I have now turned to a wife of the house, says a teary Peter.
'I wonder why I got married……see how my unmarried friends are enjoying life to the fullest.'says a teary Peter
